Invaders News · NHS Commencement Procedures

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather and the start of summer. We are excited to finally give our seniors the recognition they deserve over this next week! Please see the below information and directions regarding commencement.

Number of Guests:  Each graduate is permitted to bring 5 guests (not counting the graduate) to watch them commence.  Please do not arrive with more than 5 guests.  We want this to be a positive and memorable experience for all involved and do not want to have to turn people away, however, we will not permit any additional guests over the allotted 5.

Masks:  While we encourage masks be worn, they are not required and are optional.

Arrival:  You should arrive promptly at the time you signed-up for via the Sign-up Genius.  If you arrive prior to your scheduled time, you must wait in your vehicle until it is your assigned time to enter. Please enter the building through the front, main entrance and check-in at the table upon arrival.  If you are in need of using the elevator, you should enter through the pool doors.

Commencement Procedures:  We have marked the floor with specific spots for families to stand in order to follow social distancing guidelines as they wait.  Staff will direct you where to stand and how to enter the auditorium.  When it is your student’s turn to commence, family members will enter the auditorium, first, to get into a position they can see and take pictures. The graduate will then enter, walk across the stage as their name is announced, receive their diploma case from a board member, and a flower from NHS administration. They should exit the stage using the opposite staircase.

Exiting the Auditorium:  We will have someone to direct families out of the auditorium. Please be aware that commencement is being recorded and we ask that you keep the conversation and noise to a minimum while you are exiting the auditorium.

Diploma Pick-Up:  Upon exiting the auditorium, please go to the media center to pick-up your student’s official diploma. Please remember that if your student has outstanding school fees, they will not receive their diploma and transcripts will not be released until all financial obligations are met. Please contact our treasurer, Luanne Ledinsky, with questions regarding fees.

Photos:  After picking up diplomas, Mr. Kirby will be stationed in the media center to take an official graduate photo in front of the NHS backdrop. These photos will be available for download on our district website at a later date.

Exiting NHS:  Please use the media center exit doors to exit the building.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Thank you,

Mrs. Urban
