Girls Varsity Volleyball · Varsity Volleyball Senior Spotlight: Katey Stakolich

Throughout the season we will “Spotlight” the Seniors from the various Normandy High School Varsity Teams.  Today, the “Spotlight” shines on Katey Stakolich of the Varsity Volleyball Team.  We recently had the opportunity to learn a little more about Katey and her life on and off the court.

Current Sport/ Activity: Volleyball

When did you start playing your sport? When I was ten.

Other Activities at Normandy (Clubs/ Sports): Maverick Volleyball and NHS Softball

Career Honors (any sport or school award): First Team All Conference Freshman, Sophomore, & Junior Seasons.  District Honorable Mention Sophomore and Junior Seasons.  Four Year Letter Winner and Most Assists for 4 Years.

Favorite memory during athletic career My favorite memory was during a game where we were down by a little, Mr. Balis asked everyone in the huddle if we were going to just pack it in.  I confidently responded “Yes!!” having no idea what that meant.

Pregame Routine or Superstitions: run a lap around the whole school and get Mr. Balis for our team talk.

My plan for after graduation is to go to college and hopefully play volleyball and study nursing.

Favorite subject in school has to be medical.

Outside of school activities I enjoy hanging out with my friends.

Three Fun facts about me are:

  1. I have two cats who are my pride and joy (Luly and Nell).
  2. My favorite food is Chick-fil-A.
  3. My favorite color is purple.

Advice for the underclassman:

“Get more chicken quesadillas from Sword and Shield.  You never know when it’ll be your last 🙁 ”

Good Luck the rest of the season Katey!
